Say I just looked at these posted blogs. These are starting at the end instead of at the beginning (I don't know at this point why this is so if anyone has any suggestions. Let me know, if you do.) So to start just scroll down and then move up. I will end uploading these pictures for now ending with my favorite picture of the four of us dining at Maggiano's.

One thing I will remember after eating at Maggiano's was the amount of food left over. My thoughtful brother in-law made the comment: "that we should bag it up and give it to one of the homeless persons on 16Th street". So we did and journeyed down the street with leftovers in hand. Dave finally found a nice recipient to take the extra grub.

Ok, Dave and I decided to take an adventurous thirty mile bike ride from outside of Vail back down to Vail. This is the last day that we could do this so even though the weather was Effie we went for it. And what an experience! It snowed; it rained; it hailed; the wind blew forty to fifty miles per hours; the temperture...must have been freezing but we were troopers; we went for the it the Gusto!!! Why, because it was there!!!

The slopes behind our rented time share. Pretty nice for the yuppies. I can't imagine what this place is like in the winter ski season. The prices are way out of my league now but in the winter months...Auggg!

You can see more of the damage here from this Pine Beetle. As more and more dead pines increase in these beautiful forests, I worry that a fire would cause much devastation.

One thing I noticed and became concerned about while visiting Colorado was the damaged pines. I found this was due to a insect called the Pine Beetle. All through Colorado you can see the devastation of this beetle. I understand that there is nothing that can be done and that this beetle shows up periodically.

You got it shopping it is! Here Bon and I take a break. I have to admit, it is a very beautiful area. And as for the hike? I'm not one for doing a lot on my feet anymore so letting the girls shop as I moozie around is ok--at least for a while!

This is Gore Creek in Vail, Colorado, and is at the entrance to a nice touristy type shopping area. Now we have a choice, to either go on a short hike or we can go shopping. Can you guess what we decided?

Bonnie loves to make friends. As she makes friends here in my girl friends store. You ask "Whats this girl friends store business?" You will have to ask Bonnie, Dave, or Deb. All I know is I got harassed about this right after we left the store. I'm certainly oblivious to what ever went on while a customer--I'm guilty of nothing more than being sociable! Trust me!

Ok folks, I need to publish something to this blog, so here our some pictures of our Colorado vacation.

We have arrived and are strolling down a main street near our hotel in Denver. Here we watch the street chess players. It reminds me of a time when my friend Rich and I would meet in a local park for chess duels.

Pretty cool, and in a way reminds me of down town Sacramento.

Blue Moon

It has been said: that I only blog during a blue moon, and since they rarely occur I seldom add to this blog site. Well obviously there must be a blue moon out there somewhere since I am attempting to add another entry. Or else it is just an exceptional rare creative evening tonight that I find myself again poking away at this keyboard thing-of-a-ging.

OK now I'm sitting this Friday evening in my manly, comfortable, recliner chair with Bonnie across the room snoozing on the sofa and Mitzie our cat meowing outside the patio door hoping for one of us to be charitable souls that would allow her/him in. Not to mention the fans at the back door and windows bringing in the cool Delta breeze.

So what is new at the Wyland's abode one might ask. We live, these days, a pretty uneventful life of work, long commutes, and an occasional night out dining with friends. No cruises on the horizon but a trip to Vail, Colorado in September is on the agenda. Maybe that will provide me with data and inspiration to share.

But we do have one new commitment that has broken the Wyland's daily routines. That is caring for Bonnie's step father Doug who fell off a chair and broke his hip about one month ago.

Incidentally, we had our first official comment on a recent blog entry. A big surpise I must say. Thank you Kathy for your kind words or I should say Bonnie especially thanks you. That was very nice of you, and reminds us of the good memory's from years ago when we, yearly, spent a day during the Christmas season celebrating at your Moms home.

Random thoughts.

It has been a long time since I entered anything into this blog. I could complain saying that originally it was a good idea, but even though I had high aspirations of doing something with it writing does not come easy to me. But recently I have come up with by some fleeting and random thoughts on how I might use this medium again. I recall about ten ago, in my forties, I went back to college and attempted to pick up some better writing habits. I remember one of my instructors trying to encourage us in his class to try journaling if possible once a day. This he suggested would help us becoming better writers through daily practice. At that time, I only partially started to exercise this discipline. Now it that has just occurred to me: why not do my journalizing on this blog site. I can enter my random thoughts right here. I doubt that any one will read them but that is ok, after all isn’t this really my goal? If by some odd fate, someone does allow their curiosity to bring them this way, maybe I will get some feed back and positive feed would be welcomed.

So lets see if this entry makes it to the official blog. After all, I still have to post it.

My first random thought--It’s political season and soon we will be voting in the primaries here in California. I’m very confused as tomorrow is Super Tuesday and I will perform my civic duty and cast my vote. This is confusing though because I usually have a good feeling (right or wrong) why I feel strongly for one candidate over the other candidates. This year, however, I don’t have a clue. I’m ambiguous between two candidates. Now one excuse is I usually hear the debates from which I can use as a springboard to ponder different opposing points, and to which I would look further into those areas of interest.

This year, however, I didn’t critique any of the nationalized debates. Why? Seems like they were not on our regularly broadcasted TV stations, and we still haven’t signed up to the Cable or Satellite services that so much of the coverage is found on.

Another random thought stems from reading a relatives email stating how she remembers that when she was back in school a teacher had told her not to tell anyone who you are voting for. So now she has decided not to talk about whom she has decided to vote for. And she says that she doubts that she will be having much interaction with her family for the next eleven months. Seems she has a problem relating to her family on political issues. This seems a little sad for a number of reasons.

Now I would agree that it really is no ones business when it comes to voting and I think that is why they use to have curtains around the polling booth. It is a personal thing, not to mention that politics has a tendency to divide. But does it have to? Seems I often have discourse with many who do not agree with me and in the end we learn something about each other and then agree to disagree.

But after saying this, I do have thoughts regarding how far I would take this. That is, I think ones political position is a very personal thing; I also think there is value in bouncing things around. That is in our diverse American culture it is important and beneficial to respectively work through our perceptions and thoughts as we put them to the test with others perceptions. I have discussed issues and even found myself changing or reconsidering once held precious views, and I know others have reconsidered my position after hearing why I took a certain stances.

Of course I guess change and a challenge can be threatening. For some people, other things may be going on, but that would be another random thought.

Tuesday's Adventure

Last night July 12th, Erin called from indiania. She was concerned about my passport/birth cirtificate dilemia and wanted to help. She was indeed a wonderful help as she spend an enormous amout of time on the Internet trying to salvage our cruise by finding me the quickest route to aquiring a PA birth cirtificate.

Hurrah...Holla Yoal (no that's not spanish or at least not suppose to be--I just can't spell)

She was the might warrior...my savior. She came through with a way to get a birth certificate in only one day.

So this morning we were awaken by Erins mother Deb and she gave us the details as to where and how to get the ball rolling. Now we wait for tomorrow we should get the blessing.

God is good to have supplied me with great and thoughtful relatives, which I also consider good friends.

So done with my lunch break and back to work.

Hello, this is my first try at blogging. Why do I undertake this arduous task? That indeed is a good question. Perhaps it is to see if anyone will come and visit the on goings of Rich and Bon's life happenings. However, I don't know so perhaps this will be just an excersize to vent.
